The organizers of the first annual GameCity Festival offered to host the European premiere of High Score. So this past October, the movie's star, Bill Carlton, along with director Jeremy Mack made the trek to Nottingham, UK for the screening.

Galaga in the Arcade
The festival was a really cool exploration of the world of gaming. One of the events consisted of classic arcade games scattered throughout the city center. Bill found Galaga in a shopping arcade and promptly set the high score.

While wandering through town, Bill ran into an old friend.

High Score screened on a Friday night. The screening was attended by some of the top classic gamers in England.

Clash of the Titans

The next day, Tony invited Bill over to his house for a go on his fully-restored Missile Command.

This machine was in perfect condition - like it had just come out of the factory. If you looked closely though, there was one modification befitting a world record holder's machine.

So finally, the two-player game began. Bill was first up.

Fortunately, Bill was not distracted by Tony's psychological tactics.

Tony playing

It was an epic battle, but when the smoke cleared, there could only be one victor. Tony left no doubts about his Missile Command mastery, dropping a cool 500k like there was nothing to it.

Something few mortals will ever get to see: a World Record certificate. Here's Tony's tournament-mode Missile Command World Record certificate, courtesy of Twin Galaxies.

What is left to do after a rousing game of Missile Command? Why, check out the action at the local roller rink, of course. Bill straps on the skates and struts his stuff on the floor.

Bill and Tony
A great big thank you to GameCity Festival and Tony for both being such gracious hosts. We look forward to next year's rematch!
